MISSION
The aim of Nós do Morro is to give access to culture, citizenship and learning, providing the residents of Vidigal and other neighborhoods of Rio de Janeiro with access to work as actors or technicians for theatre, television and cinema. This investment in culture is a process of citizenship based in “quality”.
VISION
CULTURAL: The Group receives children, youngsters and adults who, besides taking courses, have their free time occupied with cultural activities that encourage their human, cultural and social improvement.
SOCIAL: The Group is a place for learning, where people can exchange individual and mutual values besides having the possibility of receiving professional training.
Nós do Morro Group is located in Vidigal, a neighborhood with around 30 thousand dwellers who face social inequality, with precarious access to social and cultural benefits. Moreover, the residents of Vidigal have fragile familiar relations concerning the everyday care of children and teenagers.
Another important question, that affects specially children and youngsters, refers to the reduction of the familiar group as a consequence of various new familiar adjustments (monoparental families such as those headed by women). It happens to a great number of homes in this community where, most of the time, initiate a process of social vulnerability.
