AUDIOVISUAL CENTER OF NÓS DO MORRO

After developing its work in theater, Nós do Morro opened new fronts and widened its participation in other Brazilian cultural contexts. The Audiovisual Center is an example of this expansion. Created in 1995, under the inspiration of the filmmakers Rosane Svartman and Vinícius Reis and, nowadays, made up of a staff from Nós do Morro, the center has made several productions, some of them awarded prizes in festivals in Brazil and abroad. Today, the Center is part of a cultural initiative from the Ministry of Culture, which allows students to qualify to work.
With the support of BNDES, it was possible to set up an editing system and acquire digital equipment for their productions.

In its eleven years, the center has already shot four short films:  O Jeito Brasileiro de ser Português; Mina de Fé, which won the prize for Best Short Film in the 37th Festival de Brasília de Cinema Brasileiro; and Picolé, Pintinho e Pipa. Neguinho e Kika, a short film digitally shot was awarded Best Short Film Prize in the Festival Reencontres Cinématographiques, in the French city of Marseilles, as well as the prizes for Best Direction in the Festival de Londrina and the Prêmio Especial do Júri of the Festival Internacional de Curtas do Rio.
